Centrifuge

Centrifuge

Centrifuge brought together twenty early career artists, curators and writers based in the North of England, to undertake a professional development programme. Beginning with a visit to Documenta 12 in August 2007, and then working with artists Dirk Fleischmann and Imogen Stidworthy the twenty developed a self-directed group project, focusing on the idea of Art Prize. A book about the project will be published in summer 2009.

Original participants: David Baker, Alice Bradshaw, Chris Henry Clarke, Matthew Cowan, Katie Davies, Kate Day, Catherine Elvin, Rosie Farrell, Evi Grigoropoulou, Laura Harrington, Zoe Johnson, Gaz Leddington, Rebecca Lennon, Tim Machin, Pete McPartlan, Daniel Simpkins, Nick Thurston, Ruth Todhunter, Tom Watson and Penny Whitehead.

Centrifuge was devised and delivered by The Salford Restoration Office on behalf of Manchester Metropolitan University as part of the Northern Way funded Northern Edge initiative.
